I've dropped from 190 to 174 in 3 to 4 weeks doing the Atkins 40. Look, I don't even measure anything at all except for carbs. I don't count calories either. I just make sure to stay under 40 carbs and avoid all sugars. I try to get foundation veggies but 20 carbs of real veggies is a ton and having IBS means triggers. So I tend to eat a small amount of veggies every day. Fats are whatever fats come naturally with the foods I eat. I limit bacon but I still enjoy 2 or 3 slices at breakfast. Snacking isn't an issue due to the way the diet controls your appetite. The 1st week you will be tired but once you have exhausted your stores of glucose and switch to burning fat, it will get better. There are no cheat days. Cheat days takes 3 to 4 days to recover so the idea of having cheat weekends won't work to lose weight but to maintain weight. Once I get to 172, it's time for Atkins 100 which opens up more choices.

I am glad I found this video; thanks for the info. I got very discouraged trying the Atkins diet because I lost a half a pound the first week. That;s all. I realize I was making some mistakes. I was told I could eat quinoa but the amount I was eating had over 20 carbs per serving. I did not know I was eating too many carbs the first week. I hope to do better.

I did the macros for this diet and it came out to 121 g of protein, 45 g of carbs, 104 g of fat ... is the diet suppose to consist of only 20g of carbs ?

Great video. I've been off and on this diet for about 15 year with extremely awesome results. The key has always been to find my healthy carb limit per day and stay consistent. I've found myself falling back to comfort foods and in the last 4 years my weight is 60lbs more than I need to be. I'm 2 weeks in and have lost 16lbs. I understand that most of that is water weight However, today I am in full ketosis and feel invigorated. I'm glad I watched your vid because I'm getting bored with the food that I am eating and needed to be reminded that I can add these other veggies in moderation. I'm getting excited about what the results will be in the next 30-40 days. I have new clothes that haven't been worn in 2 years. Anyway, sorry for the long comment. I just wanted to say thanks for making this video.

If I ate all that I would put on weight. I go days without eating to stay at 190. at age 73 you cannot loose weight. after 6 weeks on the diet I found out I can't loose weight.

Really do appreciate it! I actually started at 255 I hit a brick wall at220 for about 2 months then I hit another at180 and feel hopeless. I hope to lose 15-20 lbs by August 12 and hope this diet really works for me

I take biotin gummies and each gummy is 3g of carb and 2 g of sugar. Should I stop taking them if I'm doing phase 1? I,ve lost 11 lbs in 4 days I know mostly is water weight, but I feel guilty because of taking the gummies lol! And can I drink decaf coffee with splenda with breakfast?
