Are protein shakes also a problem with gout or perhaps a good replacement of the traditional meats/proteins?

My gout of around 3 years have already been the main reason I follow the doctor’s orders, however I still encounters gout flare ups at least one time a month. This gout treatment “Vοvοpαm Azb” (Google it) does work and also i`ve been having it two tmes a day and have seen a substantial advancement to the flare ups.

Is there any real set diet for dealing with gout? I have it since 2013. I had only one or two severe attacks. I have all but stopped eating meat, seafood and fish. I stopped drinking alcohol, especially beer. I have tried to cut down on grains and sugars. I never ate much sugar to begin with, I never drank much cola for example, but sugar is in everything these days, so I have explicitly been trying to avoid sugary foods and breads. The problem I have is that everywhere you look in the internet there is contradictory information about what gout-sufferers should and should not eat. My list of "should-eats" includes: -Cherries -Celery -Magnesium -Stinging nettles (As tea or eating the leaves by boiling them) -Coffee -Nuts My list of "do-not-eats" includes: -Meat (Especially pork, lamb, beef, turkey, seafood, fish and organ-meat, which I never cared for much anyway. ) -Beer and alcohol in general (although I treat myself to up to 250 ml of wine maybe once ever 2 months) -Sugar (No cola, no sweets, nothing with high fructose corn-syrup or glucose) -Yeast ( I stay away from pretzels, beer, bread with high yeast content) -Grains ( I avoid white wheat flour and oats) There are other foods however that I heard are bad and I question whether they are or not. Mostly I have been conservative and have avoided them, but I wonder if they are really bad? Do you know? -Mushrooms -Legumes (I miss green beans and chick-peas. Can I eat these?) -Grains (Is wheat flour really bad?) -Dairy Products ( I hear that whole milk and fatty cheeses are bad - are they?) -Black tea or tea with tannin in it. -Buckweat? -Spelt? -Algea -black beans -Soy bean -Soy sauce What about spices like: fenugreek, turmeric, cumin, curries, asatoefide, mugwort, juniper, bear-garlic ("ramsons"), basil, parsley, dill, rosemary, oregano, tarragon, marjoram, cinnamon, cardamom, fennel seed, onion seed, ginger, safron, anise, mace, cloves, caraway, mustard, nutmeg, cassia, allspice, bay leaf, coriander, kafir, lemon, lime, lovage, sassafras, sumac, thyme, wasabe, horse-radish, wintergreen, watercress, vanilla, wormwood, melissa, licorice. Any bad guys here? I try to stay away from any processed foods and eat lots of fruits and vegetables. I still probably eat way too much pasta and whole milk & cheese products, but are these really bad? What about rice? I have only had two really bad bouts. One which lasted for 2 weeks when I was first diagnosed. Here my left toe joint swelled to the size of a golfball and got really red. I thought I had broken my toe, but when the pain did not diminish after two weeks I thought I had just damaged the joint one too many times during martial arts. I had one bout after that, that wasn't quite that bad, but the pain was in both of my big toe joints. In both cases I had to limp a bit. Since that time I have had no really serious inflammations with swelling and redness, but I do on occasion feel heat in my joints and sometimes I think I notice some light inflammation, but I am not sure. I have constant hip, shoulder neck and back pain as well as infrequent, intermittent pain in my knees and ankles that I never had before. My hip has never bothered me as much as it does now and I wonder if any of the new pain is attributable to the gout. I do not have arthritis. I was tested for that. There is just a lot of contradictory information out there about what gout-sufferers can and cannot eat.

To those who do not have gout, or think gout can't hurt you. I can honestly tell you, Gout hurts like hell, and can strike anyone at any age. Its so painful especially at night that its almost impossible to sleep without relief. Take my advice, be mindful of what you eat, avoid alcohol completely, and drink lots of water and fresh juices. I'm 25, recently graduated from university and looking forward to life, and I have been diagnosed with gout. So its really fucked up. Prevention first.

@Goutgetout I would definitely recommend the report to others. The report served as a one-stop place for information. The material is well presented, detailed, and easy to read. In my case, I have not had an attack in quite some time. However, I have recently undergone surgery to remove nodules on my elbow, knee and little toe caused by gout. Your report has been of immense help in creating a diet to keep me gout-free. Gout sufferers should See this ==> gouttreatmenttv.blogspot.com

Every case of gout is different. I can eat anything and drink anything...except for beer. Thats what gives me "the toe"

mtriv111 . 8 years ago

I eat three bananas a day, religiously, and am in the throes of a major gout attack right now. Don't drink, don't eat much in the way of red meat. I eat pretty good, actually. There's a lot more to it, but bananas certainly won't hurt...the gout is what hurts. Just the breeze from the ceiling fan hurts my toe!

There's a lot of shit published on the web about gout. The best way to get shot of the fucker is a complete change of life-style. I gave up booze, drugs, junk food, and started taking regular exercise, early nights and Cherry Active concentrate. I've been gout-free for 2 years, my relationship with my family has improved 110% and I feel much happier about myself.

@slop101 Avoid asparagus, mochi, sticky / glutenous rice, and mushrooms those are the worst triggers for my gout.

howtogetwell . 10 years ago

Then you should be able to treat gout with vitamin c and potassium supplements. You can get far more of both using the supplements than you could ever get from eating bananas.
