On Myfitness pal, you're supposed to eat back your exercise calories, so if you're doing 500 calories of exercise, you eat 1700 calories that day based on the 1200 calorie start range (which would give you a little over two and half servings of peanut butter, lol!). You can do that, or you can average out your calories for the week over the 7 days. You would only do 1200 if your laying in bed all day long and getting no activity.

i went by 1000 calories roughly for about a year and lost 30 lbs, and i’m still working to get off the last 10 or so pounds. very slow but incredibly manageable if you don’t want to do too much at once. i’m doing yoga now too which has been helping my body more too. so probably once i’m at a happy weight i’ll eat 1500 ish to sustain :) im so grateful to have heard of this method !!

I'm about 250 and for the most part eat around 1000 a day. Really depends if I'm working or off, sometimes it's less than 1000 sometimes closer to 2000 if we've gone out to eat. I've basically stayed the same weight for several months. I started a new antidepressant a few weeks back (ive since quit cause bad side effects) however it basically suppressed my appetite to the extreme. I cant seem to lose weight like I want but I have no energy or motivation to workout. I either work or sleep sadly. I know I'm under eating most days but sucks. I've been heavy my whole life, sucks

it is not just will power. you gotta take yourself by the hand and lead yourself to the goal. don't be too harsh nor to easy on yourself. the hardest thing is to find that sweet spot (hehe, sweet, you know, like sugary food) .

I employed the small-plate policy for myself, 3 times a day, no snacks in between. Sometimes I get a little smartass and squeeze more food in that small plate, but it seems to have worked for me. Went from 168 lbs to 157 in about three months.

I use that app I am a healthy weight 7 stone 13 at the moment and my gole is 7 stone 7 I'm 5ft 2..I have never been over weight but do find 1200 calories a day hard some days

The whole thing that frustrates me about calorie calculators is it seems ridiculously low. Like 1200 calories to *maintain* my weight? What?? How am I supposed to get all the vitamins/minerals/macs ect in 400 calories a meal? Pills? Cause that's what it sounds like. (Most calculators won't let me near 2k calories unless I'm working out heavily 5-6 times a week??) Calculators can go suck a dick.

Dang, I’ve been on 1200 for a couple weeks now, some days I do go up to 1400 if I was doing a lot that day, but it did take awhile for my body to adjust to it.

I started tracking and drinking water before I even tried to lower my calories so I could see where I was. It was easy to lower them week to week from over 3500 to 1600. That was a little too low, but I've settled in to about 1,800-2,200 calories a day with a fairly active job. The fun thing is that the calories I'm eating now to lose weight is equal to the maintenance calories at my goal weight, so I think I'll just stick with it and wait for my body to catch up. The progress will slow down over time, but I'll get there eventually without needing to stress about much of anything.

Samsung Health recommended I eat only 1000 calories (I'm 5'1 for reference). I got so hungry, I would literally stand in my kitchen binging on peanut butter. My hair started falling out because I wasn't getting the nutrients I needed. Now I'm eating around 1200 - 1500 depending on my activity level for the day and it's much better. I just want these baby hairs on my head to grow out so I stop looking so crazy πŸ˜‚

My calories are in between 1850/1930 otherwise I lose interest. It took me 6 weeks to really start noticing a difference but my digestion improved by 90 percent I feel better about myself, and my mindset is much healthier! Thank you.😊

In my super fun experience this year with losing weight (I have hit 30 and I'm blaming that) if I eat much more than 1200 Cal's I don't lose. Maybe if I stuck to it a while I would eventually...but I am the type of person who needs consistent losses to stay motivated. I am not necessarily hungry at that calorie point my issue is weekends and wanting to have a "break". Kills my progress

I've been at 1 400 calories (or less) a day for a year, as well as "rules" regarding stuff I can't eat even if my calories allows it (no sugary drinks like soda or juice for example, and no candy, chocolate, chips etc) with the exception of one day a week where I don't count calories. I've also started working out for about 30 mins a day for 6 times a week about a month ago. So far I've lost 4 kilos or 8.8 lbs. I started this journey when I put on about 10 kilos or 22 lbs under less than a summer. (I went from surviving on redbull and one meal a day, to being forced to eat lunch and dinner while not being educated on portion size and still maintaining my suger and caffeine addiction). Even though I'm a little sad that it's taking so long, I can tell it's made a huge difference regarding my eating habits even on the day where I don't count calories. In the start I use to eat a lot on that day, but now I drink 2 redbulls and eat half a chocolate bar and don't feel like eating anymore. Hopefully my weight loss journey will start to speed up now that I've included working out almost everyday πŸ™

Gosh I am surprised why this video hasn't got more views and likes. I used fitnesspal too but found those 1200 not enough for my big appetite and ended up binging again. Now I am using an app that I never realised was incorporated on Samsung 7 lol. I put in the exact information regarding my goals and my lifestyle habits but it gives me 1400... I know it's only 200 difference but let me tell you those 200 made a difference.

If you wanna basically be immobile, 1200 is fine. Any more movement than that and you're setting yourself up for failure. I work a sedentary office job for 9 hours and I only do mild yoga/stair master 3 days a week. I fast intermittently (skip breakfast basically), and then just eat a normal amount of food for lunch and dinner. I rarely go over 1500 calories this way. So far I've lost 40 lbs. Just find what works for you!
