Despite the Platinum name, this credit card is a bare-bones card for lower credit scores.

I was crushed when I got into a accident I applied for this card and I defaulted on a loan in the last 5 years I got a 3000 credit line and after 4 months my credit score went from 689 to 780 and I now have venture card and American Express card gold card. Never carry a balance and I would tell you the journey card 0 annual fee they give you 1.5% cash back and reports to all 3 credit is best but I waited 1 year after I defaulted before I applied.

I just got approved for a capitol one platinum card with $300 limit with no deposit or anything. Does that mean it’s unsecured? Also, where do I start once I get my card? Lol great video btw👍🏼

Good starter card. Started off with a $2,000 credit limit in 2016 then had gradual increases to $6,500 within the past 3 years. Boosted my credit score from 650 to 750. Pay your bills on time and don’t max out the credit card. Now I’m aiming for the 800 plus score. Good looks capitol one!

I had to put $50 down soooo idk why people are saying this is an unsecured credit card? If someone could clear this up for me I’d appreciate it.

How much should I ask for a credit limit increase? My capital one is 2 years old and I'm still at $500 should I ask for 2k or maybe just $500 more to have $1k in credit HELPPPP!!!

Worst card to get! Capital 1 has the worst credit line increases, customer service, and high interest rates. Try with Discover first, better company overall and you can receive cashback at least. Bottom line DON'T get CO!

I have had this for 5 months now and getting the increase to $500 in the next two weeks gonna wait another 6 months to try and increase to $1000 or $1500 based on my payment history so I don’t get a hard pull.

Hi, I am 19 and obviously don't have any credit history and was trying to apply for this card but was denied. Do you know why? I prefer this card as my first choice because this is perfect for me to start to build credit and doesn't require a security deposit. Any answers or suggestions why I couldn't get approved??

I applied for this card with a 580 score, and I got turned down. This card isn’t easy to get. I did it 2019

For whatever it’s worth, I am rebuilding right now. I’ve made some minor errors and couldn’t even get approved for a couple secured cards I applied for due to past relationships with certain banks. But, knowing what I know now, I would avoid the secured version of this card, because you only get your security deposit back WHEN you close the account! With that in mind, I would go with 1) Discover It and 2) Citi Secured Cards almost simultaneously. THEN, after 3-6 months, I would apply for this card. Next, I’d garden until at least one if not both of the secured cards became graduated. I would then PC from the Citi Diamond to the Double Cash as quick as possible. From there, I would get a Chase Freedom, then PC or possibly apply for the Quicksilver (to get the sign-up bonus) and also eventually add a SavorOne. I’d round out my base with a US Bank Cash Plus, AMEX Blue, and BoA Cash Back. Like you Adam, I’m a cash-back guy for now. Maybe that’ll change as I get older and kids are gone.

You mentioned that there's no security deposit for this card. There is though. I had to put a $200 deposit down before I could get officially approved. It may have changed but it said I could be told to put a $50, $100, or $200 deposit down.

I just applied for my first credit card, the capital one platinum mastercard. I’m 19 years old and want to start building credit. Just have a question, the limit on my card is $1,000. I plan on using it for my car insurance, phone bill and maybe some other expenses as well totalling about $300/month. Then at the end of every month, maybe even multiple times a month I plan on paying it off in full so I’ll always have a $0 balance at the end of the month. Is this a good plan? And does the amount of money you spend increase your credit score faster? For example, if I use my credit card for all my purchases and spend about $600/month instead of $300/month as long as I pay it all of each month would that increase my score faster? Any advice is appreciated.

I have a 710 clean score but this is what they offered me because I am only 20 I guess and have only 2 years of credit history on my JcPenney card.

Check out the reviews on this card, on Credit Karma. They will tell you more about scores in approval rates for this card. Keep in mind if you get denied with a Fair to good credit score. Depth to income ratio is important.

There is something to be said for having a simple no annual fee card for people just starting out or rebuilding credit. If you can open this card with a low score and keep it alive with no annual fee, it might end up being a great "oldest open account" which will help your credit score alot in the long run, that will form part of the foundation for your credit, and you might even be able to convert it to a better rewards card years from now. I believe the Capital One Platinum is actually one of my oldest accounts which was largely sock drawered until recently. Last fall when Capital One announced that they were adding transfer partners, I actually discovered that I had this really old account that was still open, and I called them and they immediately sent me a quicksilver one card as a replacement. I then called them again and requested a product change to the Venture One card which is a great travel points card that earns 10 points per dollar on hotels.com. So now I have this great no annual fee keeper travel card, the Venture One, but with a 12+ year old credit history on it helping my credit score, and I didnt even have to do a card application for it. So for people just starting out, I would say this could be a great card to keep open. It's a card that will get your foot in the door and build a long time relationship with Capital One, which is a great bank to start with - they have a number of other higher tier products you might be able to product change to over time while growing that credit line's history to build up your credit score.

https://youtu.be/60vMphVruF0 I had 2 secured cards $300.00 which graduated to unsecured Wells Fargo Platinum $3,000 Usbank Platinum Visa $3,300. Then 2018 I was approved for the Capital one platinum mastercard at 1,500 then month 3 I product changed my card to a Quicksilver Got a CLI $500 then 3 months later after my Credit Steps 6th statement they added $1,500. Total $3,500 then I added another Quicksilver $5,000. I added 3 more cards Usbank Cash Plus Visa Signature, Amex Gold Delta Skymiles&Navy federal credit union cashRewards Visa. I highly recommend Capital one Platinum you can change it to a quicksilver and increase your credit as well at the 3rd month of having the card then after your 6th statement you will get your Credit Steps CLI

My first card was the Capital One Journey Student card and same for my wife. It earned 1% cash back. I don't think the standards are very high because at the time my credit was TERRIBLE and my income was low. I recommend trying to get that card before the Capital One Platinum .
