Weight loss is a goal many people have at some point in their lives and there is an abundance of information and diets out there telling you how to achieve this goal. Despite all this information, and what the diet industry would like you to believe, is that weight loss is difficult. Yet at its core, weight loss is simple maths – calories in verses calories out. Today we will look at what calories are, how they work and how you can manipulate them to help you lose weight.

The amount of calories in your food is mainly determined by fat, protein and carbohydrates, known as macronutrients. All foods contains one or more of these macronutrients and each one contain a different amount of calories or energy. Carbohydrates and protein each have four calories per gram while fat has nine calories per gram and alcohol has seven calories per gram. In simple terms this means 100 grams of pure protein has 400 calories while 100 grams of pure fat has 900 calories. The higher the amount of calories you consume, the more difficult it will be to lose weight in the form of belly fat.

Create a calorie deficit either by eating less or exercising more and your body is forced to burn stored energy to get the extra calories it needs to meet your daily needs. Best of all, you can choose how you create this deficit and manipulate your calorie needs to lose weight.

It is not simply calories in and calories out. It's a hormone issue. There are skinny people who eat a lot less calories who have to inject with insulin due to diabetes and they get fat where the injection site is. Also try eating a measly 1500 calories for 6 months on nothing but candy. Watch what happens.

Okay that's stupid and simple, not wrong but not at 100% true. Of course you will loose Weight, but is it a sustainable lost? Is it sustainable for your body if don't look at what type of calories you eat, so imagine if you always eat the same ? I honestly don't understand why so many people are in denial about CICO (Calories In, Calories Out) - Every single diet that actually works depends upon it. There isn't a diet that works that requires you to eat more calories than your TDEE.

If you want to lose weight, follow these steps. 1. NO ARTIFICIAL SUGAR, that shit is the biggest factor to weight gain. 2. Eat low fat foods, things like homemade marinaded chicken, or ham have low fat and high protein. 3. Water, nothing else needs to be saID. Although a small cup of milk every day is also recommended (milk contains sugar, but it also has the calcium that your bones need) 4. Try to eat roughly 2000 calories worth of grains, veggies, fruits, and proteins. 5. Natural sugar like that found in nonprocessed fruits and veggies are what should be keeping you energized. 6. Exercise. Do about 10 push-ups and sit ups every morning as you wake up, and another set of 10 as you're about to go to sleep. 7. Ignore criticisms, that shit will only beat you down. 8. Try a sport you've been to afraid to try. This can help boost confidence, something that ties into weight loss greatly 9. Don't cheat. Yes, I know that bag of Cool Ranch Doritos is temping, but you CAN NOT have it.

I agreed with everything said here other than "reward yourself if you lose 10 lbs a month" you should NOT be losing more than 2 lbs per week, which would only amount to maybe 8 lbs. Be careful what you are telling people to do.

The macronutrients are not metabolized the same. It is not simple physics of calories in /calories out. Fat metabolism is regulated by hormones I.e. Insulin. Do your research before spouting this nonsense.

Complete bullshit, it has nothing to do with calories. You think people are fat today because they eat too much butter? No, it is a hormonal problem to do with insulin, aka sugar. People are not physics machines, "calories in, calories out" is pseudoscience.
